First-Semester Welcoming 2015
On October 23, 2015, the official first semester welcome of KIT took place in the Black Forest Hall of the Konkresszentrum Karlsruhe at 6 pm. 4,500 first-year students started their studies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in the winter semester.
The evening event offered a varied program opened by the KIT Big Band. Prof. Dr. Alexander Wanner, KIT Vice President for Teaching and Academic Affairs, Dr. Frank Mentrup, Lord Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe, and the Chairman of the General Students' Committee (AStA) welcomed the young students at KIT and in the city of Karlsruhe.
The awards for outstanding student commitment were followed by the Ersti Quiz, in which the knowledge of first-year students regarding their future place of study was tested, and a performance by cabaret artist Sascha Knorf. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to talk to professors in the foyer and to inform themselves at the numerous information stands about studies and central facilities at KIT. Special thanks go to our sponsors who contributed to a successful evening with their commitment.
