Open House Day 2011
At the Open Day on the new KIT Campus East, more than 25,000 visitors experienced first-hand what KIT research projects for future mobility look like. On about 2000 square meters of exhibition space, almost 80 actors presented more than 100 offers for participation and discovery as well as exhibitions and demonstrations.
This year's open day was held under the motto "The future of mobility". Centers, institutes and collaborative research centers present themselves on the topics of materials, energy storage and energy sources, drive and chassis systems, development methods and production technology, vehicle concepts, infrastructures, vehicle and traffic management, logistics and mobile society. Results from basic and applied research were on display, including the presentation of concrete "mobility products": More than 40 demonstration and test vehicles, including vehicles with hybrid or electric drive, autonomous vehicles or a motorcycle with anti-hopping clutch were on display, and eleven vehicles demonstrated their capabilities in driving demonstrations.
As main sponsors, Robert Bosch GmbH, Daimler AG and Porsche AG support the open day.
